November 2009 - GSTS and NHS Pensions advice

Aspira was brought in to provide professional advice to GSTS Pathology employees from Bedford Hospital on their pension options and on the differences between the former NHS defined benefit scheme and the scheme available from their new employer.  Aspira was able to discuss with each individual their specific options and implications.  We will continue to work with GSTS staff to ensure that they are fully informed and to assist them in making decisions about transferring benefits, and making additional pension contributions.

GSTS Pathology is a joint venture between Guys & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and Serco Group plc and is one of the largest pathology organisations in the UK.  Around 550 employees conduct more than seven million pathology tests a year, consisting of over 1200 different types of test across a broad spectrum of disciplines including histopathology, blood sciences, microbiology and genetics.
